NorthIowaOutlaws vs BismarkBobcats

Jordan Babcock, 8yr old son of Susan and Mason Babcock, Garner Iowa, wanted to do something for the kids effected by Hurricane Katrina. I asked her for a picture of Jordan.

In his mom's words...Here is a picture of Jordan with one of the many signs he made up when he began his quest for donations. He spent many days after school and weekends pounding the pavement asking for donations. His red wagon and home made signs became a familiar sight around town. He always had a friend, his sister or dad with him (because mom didn't want him to go alone).

Jordan donated the money to the RED CROSS and in turn this became our first donation to the OUTLAWS Fundraiser for Hurricane Relief. We want this event to be GIGANTIC for the sake of the people effected by the tragedy. We would like to honor Jordan for his huge heart and his huge effort, and hopefully inspire more people to dig deep for these people who need what we can provide. Jordan's selfless act inspires us when we feel overwhelmed.

Jordan didn't seek attention for doing what he did. But like his dad said.....Jordan was a bit confused that he should get anything for raising this money, Mason explained to him that his story will inspire and motivate others to donate. After our stop at the RedCross yesterday, he got in the vehicle and let out a sigh, I asked him what that was for and he replied, " that feels so good to help all those people." We talked about how we can't forget those Katrina victims and how we need to continue to help.

On behalf of the Outlaws Fun-raising Committee, we would like to thank Jordan Babcock for getting this ball (or puck) rolling! Contributions will be accepted up to the date of the Tailgating Event of October 30th. Contribution canisters will be placed around town in various locations, or checks can be sent to:

Hurricane RELIEF Plans Near Completion

Our plans for the Hurricane Relief Tailgating Party are underway, but I just wanted to remind everyone why we are doing this. It's not very difficult to see that whatever we can do will be greatly appreciated by so many people. We are blessed with so many things and if we can share even a little of our time, our talents, our pennies or Benjamin's...We can only be enriched!

The photo of the children was one of the first images I saw on the first day of the Hurricane. The little boy with his hands over his eyes looks like my 4yr old son. The other children are huddled in some sort of laundry room, all looking afraid and alone. I was moved by this photo, and every image since. This isn't going away anytime soon, and our help even now, will make a lot of people's lives a little better.
So, when you are asked AGAIN for a little something for these people, just remember that... gas has gone down a little....or we could skip one meal out and actually cook....OK, I am speaking for myself, I never cook....but YOU get the drift! Now, lets get back to the fun....but lets never forget what we are capable of doing when we all do a little! Bless you all for the help you are going to give.
